The Theme Of Our Kite By-Michael Ragsdale

Hey there do you want to know what our theme is about?  We are going on an adventure and our theme is taking us there. Our theme is......... Nautica.

We chose the theme Nautica because we thought it will be creative to do kites about boats.

I can relate this to engineering because there are many different kinds of like small boats and big boats.

We connect Nautica to engineering because boats need engines. Engines have to be built using engineering, science, and math.

Day 4 History By-Michael Ragsdale

The exact date and origin of the kite is not known but it is believed that they were flown in China more than two thousand years ago. One legend suggests that when a Chinese farmer tied a string to his hat to keep it from blowing away in a strong wind, the first kite was born Kite flying became very popular in Japan during the Edo period.

First it would look like a colorful kite. The color will be a mixture of blue, red and green. The blue and red would go across the kite with the green in the middle.  Also what we will be using for material is used bed sheets. We will use the fitted bed sheets. We want to use the bed sheets for two reasons:

1, It is helpful to the environment. Recycling is environmentally safe.
2. The material will help my team and I to be more creative.
3. The fitted sheet will help our kite fly higher because the air will go into the folds of the fitted sheet. The sheet will then become big and puffy like a parachute.

The Design Of Our Kite By-Michael Ragsdale

We chose a sled kite and as we was building the sled kite it started to look wrong and we kept messing up. We was building it step by step then we realized that it was hard to build the sled kite so we switched to an eddy kite and that came out perfect.

We was supposed supposed to do it out of fabric but we was running out of time so we did it out of garbage bags and it came out good then we taped the sticks down to the kite so we can fly it then we started to decorate the kite one of my teammate was writing words witch was our theme name.

So we colored it then cut the words out then taped them to the kite then we got string and taped it to our kite then we took a little piece of bamboo sticks then we wrapped the rope around it so we can control the kite we are just waiting to test the kite then we will be ready to fly it on kite day.

My group and I said if we fail try again when we were building the sled kite but we didn't because we were running out of time then thats when we chose to do a the eddy kite that was much easier then the sled kite. my personal opinion is that building a sled kite is hard to me maybe some of my team mates thinks its easy thats there opinion.

The Design By-Andrew Muniz

Holas Amigo's y Amiga's. That's Spanish for hello friends. Today were going to be talking about my kite and the process building it. Our kite is magnificent and its not going to take that long. I hope so this process is at least going to take 2 days. We have many steps and I will be glad to tell them all to you.

We chose the sled kite. The sled kite is a very hard kite to build. I know its hard because I have experience with It. Not only is it hard but It ripped my group apart. Now me and my group are building the eddy kite. The eddy kite is the basic diamond kite. I know I know its easy but not that much with the eddy kite you need to have precise goals and experience with it.

The eddy kite is hard but there isn't that much steps to it. The steps to the eddy kite is
Step 1- Cut a diamond shape out.
Step 2- Grab both of your skewers and put them in a cross shape on to the diamond shape.
Step 3- Attach a tail to the end of the diamond shape. The tail can be any kind of fabric.
Step 4- attach a string to were the both skewers intersect.
Step 5- The string needs to be attached to a roller.
There are many other ways to make the eddy kite this was just a basic way on how to make it. The eddy kite is a very magnificent kite and a great flyer. All these great tutorials of how to make A eddy kite can be found on http://www.my-best-kite.com/how-to-build-a-diamond-kite-s.html.

The Weather Of Our Kite By-Andrew Muniz

Did you just feel that? Well i did and It felt like a rain drop OH NO! If that was a rain drop then it would be a horrible kite flying day. Sometimes there's weather even worst then rain like lightning you don't want to be another Ben Franklin do you? Kite flying is very fun and very competitive but with the wrong weather kite flying can be turned to a day when your stuck at home.

The best places to fly a kite is probably in the beach. I think flying a kite in the beach will be the best because it rarely rains in the beach also the soft sand is there if you ever trip in something while your focusing on flying your kite.

Also the beach is the greatest place because every few minutes a nice cool breeze comes and that can give the kite a little bit more altitude and a little boost.

The Mathematics Of Our Kite By-Andrew Muniz

Whoa is it a bird is it a plane, no its our kite. Me and my group are planning for our kite to go extremely high. I might even say we want it to sail to new heights. I know it was corny but if we want our kites to go extremely high we will need to study on altitude.

Altitude means the height of an object or point in relation to sea level or ground level. This means that how high an object is and how high someone or something can go for example my kite. Without altitude my kite cannot fly and I know your saying how about the wind.

Well altitude is dealing with wind. If me and my group can maser the altitude of our kite then we will be able to accomplish anything that gets in our way.
